Salary: Band 5 – £22,437 – £24,148 p.a. (£13,340 – £14,358 pro rata)

22 hours per week (part of a Job Share) – Working pattern to be discussed with the right candidate. There will be the option to work either:

2.30pm – 4.30pm Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday 12.30 – 4.30pm, 9 – 4 Thursday and Friday, or

8.30 – 4.30 pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

In Sheltered Housing we promote independent living for residents but with the knowledge that someone is always on hand to give support and to help in an emergency. Residents have their own tenancy agreement with Portsmouth City Council therefore residents are able to live independently in their own accommodation, but with support available as needed.

What is the role?

Residents in Sheltered Housing have a range of physical and mental health needs which means that they need our support to maintain their independence. You will work to achieve this as per the Sheltered Housing purpose. You will be working as a Cat 1 Scheme Manager providing advice and support to residents living in Cat 1 Sheltered Housing schemes in the Buckland area. You will be part of a job share based in this area and will have an office directly linked to the location or close by. Please see the full job profile attached.

Who is the person?

You need to have:

1.    Experience of working directly (face to face) with people and have an understanding of the impact of physical and mental health issues experienced by older persons.

2.    Be a good listener with a calm manner, with the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.

3.    Have excellent interpersonal skills, to be able to gain the trust of residents and their families.

4.    Have an awareness of the importance of confidentiality when working with residents, in particular regards to GDPR requirements.

5.    Be a strong team player and willing to support those in your team when they are facing challenges.

6.    Have an understanding of the need for you to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents that you are supporting.

7.    Have an understanding of the role of Social Services, Health Services and voluntary agencies in the provision of services to people and be able to work with them with the purpose of achieving the best outcome for service users.

8.    Have good written skills as you will need to be able to write concise notes in residents files, respond to complaints and compile reports, for example in relation to Safeguarding matters.

9.    The ability to prioritise workloads and self-manage your time effectively to meet the different needs of each resident.

10. Be confident in being able to lone work as well as working as part of a team

11. Have the ability and motivation to promote social activities for residents

12. Have basic IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word/Excel and be able to use in house databases as required.
