About the role

Are you passionate about tackling climate change? Are you skilled in facilitating children and young people to work with decision-makers to make change happen?

If you responded yes to both – we would LOVE to hear from you! 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and organised Participation Worker to co-design and deliver climate change projects with young people.

We are currently consulting young people and schools on the scope of the project, but we envisage this role will support the co-production of a climate change summit for schools with young people.

This role offers a unique and exciting opportunity to support young people to work with the East Sussex County Council on its Climate Strategy. You will ensure that their involvement is meaningful and appropriate, and they are informed about ways that young people can contribute to projects to address climate change.

The post involves working in collaboration with county council teams in the Communities, Economy and Transport Department and Property Services, schools and colleges, voluntary sector and other relevant stakeholders.

This role will require you to work some evening meetings and occasional weekend working.

You will be joining the Equality, Participation and Strategic Partnerships team in Children’s Services. It is a creative and friendly team, committed to enhancing the outcomes for children; and has an extensive network of children, families, local leaders and external providers across East Sussex who support the delivery of their work.

ESCC teams are currently working in line with the Government guidelines and regulations in respect to COVID-19. Team’s which are currently able to deliver the service by working from home are provided with necessary equipment. Please note that the Internet connection at home will be required.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
