Job introduction

Paid weeks per year: 52

Start date: 3rd January 2023

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our school for a talented and creative person to continue the tremendous work started by our very talented music and performing arts coordinator.

Stanford Junior School is a vibrant school, minutes from Brighton’s city centre. The school has, over time, recruited the most amazing staff team and this is a unique opportunity to join our school and to impact positively on children’s learning.

About the role

You will teach music to children across Key Stage 2 during teacher’s planning and preparation time (PPA) and develop and coordinate opportunities for children to perform in a range of contexts. Working days are Tuesday and Wednesday, with some additional planning time that can be taken offsite at a time that suits (0.45FTE). There is also an opportunity to teach a class one day per week (Mondays) for the rest of this school year, though this is not a condition of the post and this can be discussed further at interview.

Music and the performing arts are highly valued at our school. With a significant number of our children accessing Brighton & Hove’s music service, we are a school brimming with talent. We would love to develop our own orchestra and continue to provide additional extra-curricular opportunities for our children. We have a thriving choir of 60 children who gather every Tuesday after school (3:45 – 4:45) and this would attract an additional payment for the successful candidate. Our school pays staff who are willing to run after school clubs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher with a specialism in music and the performing arts.

We look forward to welcoming prospective applicants and a school visit is encouraged. Our current coordinator is in school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but we can work around you. To arrange a visit to the school please contact the school office.

Closing date: 28th November
