By working as an Associate Music Teacher for North Somerset Music Service, you will be part of a team delivering music tuition and inspirational music experiences to the children and young people in North Somerset.

 

North Somerset Music Service works with around 2000 children and young people each week, through instrumental lessons, bands and orchestras and a wide range of in- and out-of-school activities, projects and courses. We have a focus on creativity and inclusion, ensuring every young person can achieve their aspirations in music, whatever their chosen pathway.

 

Our service comprises a team of around 35 Associate Music Teachers, 5 Music Therapists and a business and management team of 4. We offer our teachers regular work in schools as well as occasional project and course-based work.

 

As an Associate Music Teacher you will:
• deliver individual, small and large group tuition both in-school and at Music Centres
• work at the Music Service’s Music Centres, supporting ensemble music making
• be committed to developing creative musicians, with wide-ranging and diverse musical aspirations and outcomes
• be part of Music Service that places inclusivity, equality and diversity at the heart of its delivery.
• work as part of the wider Music Service team, supported by the Management, Business & Leadership Team to ensure that you can deliver the highest quality experiences for all
• receive regular and ongoing CPD as part of the Music Service Team

 

As an Associate Music Teacher, you will have:
• A degree qualification in music and/or teaching or equivalent experience. Additionally, you should have diploma level (or the equivalent) in your first instrument and be able to demonstrate you are still performing at this level.
• An understanding and experience of working inclusively in diverse communities, engaging appropriately with the wide-ranging needs and abilities.
• An awareness of statutory frameworks, including safeguarding, SEND, inclusion, national curriculum and exam board syllabi.
• A full driving licence and have the capacity to travel to a range of workplaces. You will be willing to work peripatetically, travelling to multiple schools in a day.

We hold interviews as and when required (approx. twice per term), for candidates to join our panel of teachers. Prospective candidates should apply at any time and, if shortlisted, will be invited to the next round of interviews. Successful candidates will be invited to join our panel, and will be offered work on a variable hours, peripatetic basis when work becomes available.   We regret we are unable to respond to non-shortlisted candidates.
