Starting Salary: £23,620 with the opportunity to progress to a maximum of £26,845pa (pro rata for part-time)

Our focus within the Shared Anti-Fraud Service (SAFS) is to make a difference to our residents by protecting public funds across Hertfordshire and reducing the constant threat of fraud against Councils.
Working as part of the Intelligence Team you will be the first point of contact for both members of the public and key stakeholders reporting allegations of fraud in a variety of service areas.
You will build relationships with colleagues in councils, housing providers and other organisations across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and the UK to support your day-to-day work.
Your work will involve triaging referrals, collating intelligence packages and developing fraud referrals, providing advice and guidance regarding fraud and corruption, undertake proactive counter-fraud exercises interrogate a number of systems to obtain intelligence and work with large data sets.
In supporting our Investigation team, you will gain experience with investigations across the councils that SAFS works with in a variety of allegations concerning blue badge, housing, council tax, education, insurance and social services.
This role requires good decision-making skills, an ability to manage a high volume case load to demanding targets and time scales and deliver excellent outcomes for our partners.
You should have strong IT skills, be able to learn about systems & processes quickly. You must be able to develop professional relationships and have good communication skills. Although not essential, a working knowledge of local government or experience in enforcement investigations is an advantage.
This is a career scheme post, and the successful candidate will be expected to complete the Counter Fraud Investigator Level 4 Apprenticeship. Entry requirements for the apprenticeship are Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE A*-C/9-4 or equivalent). Applicants without this would need to achieve this alongside their apprenticeship before completing their end point assessment. Applicants with a Level 4 or higher qualification in a related area would not be eligible for the apprenticeship.

As part of this role, you will be required to travel to other HCC Sites/Residences using your own mode of transport. In light of this, the ability to drive and/or travel around the County is required. For this role a DBS check will be required on appointment.
