Electoral Services is a busy and ever-changing workplace. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and has a positive attitude to work and change.

You will support and assist the Electoral Services Team in the registration of electors under Individual Elector Registration and the planning and delivery of elections by collection, delivery and sorting of post, printing services, electronic document scanning, dealing with initial telephone and email enquiries from potential electors, members and the general public. The job also plays a key role in providing administrative support to the delivery of local and national elections and referendums

The Elections Act 2022 received Royal Assent in April 2022 and will introduce new challenges for the team in 2023 such as voter ID, accessibility at polling stations, votes for life and changes to the administration of postal voting. The next couple of years will be a period of significant change in the way elections are run in the UK.

Excellent IT skills are required for the daily use of the eXpress computer software package, for which training will be given.  You will also have a good eye for detail and a professional but friendly manner for dealing with the public, councillors and colleagues both over the telephone and in writing.

You must have experience of working to tight deadlines. You must be flexible in your day to day working and be prepared to work extended hours, including weekends when required, especially at the time of the annual canvass and in the period leading up to elections taking place. This role can at times be mentally and physically demanding.

Formal qualifications and relevant experience would be an advantage, but equally important is a good standard of education, combined with an aptitude for accurately undertaking document scanning processes and administration support to the Electoral Services Administrators.

You will need a current driving licence and access to personal transport.
