As one of our CCTV operators, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Council’s CCTV monitoring system, with proactive and reactive monitoring of Town Centre and Housing Estates CCTV cameras, within a purpose-built CCTV control room.
You will be working with key partners including the police to improve the local environment and safety of those who live, work and visit Southwark.
You will maintain detailed reports and tasking logs to be shared with relevant partners which will require computer literacy.
The shift is 1500-2300 hours only. Contractual hours of duty are 36 hours per week the job holder will be required to work a set shift patter covering a 7 day period, involving weekends and bank holidays
You should be familiar with and adhere to the principles of the GDPR, Human Rights Act, RIPA, Freedom of Information Act and knowledge of Common Laws that governs the use of public sector CCTV.
You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable using radio communications equipment.

Due to the nature of the post candidates are not entitled to withhold information regarding convictions by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, 1974 (Exceptions) Order, 1975 as amended, pursuant to Section 4 of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Successful candidates also require security clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS, formerly CRB) and a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) police check. Loss of this clearance will lead to removal from workplace activity pending appeal, and may lead to dismissal if security clearance is not re-instated.
There are shift enhancements for out of hours and weekend working associated with this post. Pay award pending.
