Scale 5 £28,900 – £34,723 per annum
37 hours per week
We’re seeking an experienced and confident communicator to join us here at Blaby District Council as our next Communications and Consultation Officer. Could it be you?

Joining a small friendly team, you will be a multi-skilled and have experience of working and communicating with the media, understand the political environment and able to translate complicated messages into compelling stories. You’ll also be responsible for supporting and delivering consultation projects and must be confident using digital communication tools. You will need to have a public relations, communications or journalism background and have excellent time management skills as you will need to co-ordinate a variety of tasks, prioritise, and meet deadlines.
You will need to work across multiple services and departments to gather information, so it will be important for you to create and maintain relationships with colleagues as well as the media.
Job Description and Person Specification
This is a politically restricted position; the successful candidate will be speaking on behalf of the Council on a regular basis to journalists or broadcasters. This means that that individual appointed to the role is prevented from having any active political role either in or outside the workplace.
We are currently hybrid working. Whilst initial training will be office based, following this there is the opportunity to be home based for part of the week. Team members are required to work from the office a minimum of two days a week.
Blaby District Council is situated to the south of Leicester with excellent access to the Midlands and the rest of the country. The Council Offices are in Narborough, just 3 miles from the M1 junction 21.
