The Housing Adaptation Team is expanding and we aim to deliver a greater number of adaptations to residents of the Borough. Adaptations allow our residents to improve their quality of life, increase independence and maintain personal dignity by reducing the reliance on carers and family members.
We are looking for an experienced Surveyor to come in and help grow the team. The right candidate will manage a team of surveyors and handypersons providing essential technical support to the Housing Adaptation team and across the Housing service. You will be working closely with the Occupational Therapy team to support delivery of the statutory Disabled Facilities grant. You will provide a lead role in supporting the Head of Specialist Housing by overseeing a range of technical surveying functions including adaptations to Council properties.
You will lead on a full range of more complex building projects which will include asbestos management and ensuring compliance with CDM regulations.
Essential for the Role
- High level of technical skills, including the use of CAD
- Member of a professional organization: preferably RICS or CIOB or equivalent experience
- Have the use of motorised transport and have a clean, current driving license.
This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
