Housing Options Team
15 hours per week – Temporary contract 6 months
Salary £32,235 pro rata
Rushmoor Borough Council is situated in Farnborough, in North East Hampshire, close to local amenities including shops, leisure centre and cinema.
The council provides a comprehensive housing advice, information and advocacy service on all matters relating to housing rights and responsibilities.
Rushmoor is looking for a Housing Officer to work within our Housing Options team. The role of the Housing Officer will be preventing homelessness in line with the new Homelessness Reduction Act and managing a caseload.
Responsibilities include carrying out comprehensive, person-centred assessments focusing not only on the housing situation, but also taking a holistic approach to improving the customer’s wellbeing by tackling health and wellbeing inequalities and other barriers to successful tenancies. This work is done in partnership with local statutory and voluntary partners.

- experience of dealing with the public, often in difficult and stressful situations
- an ability to investigate problems and make informed confident decisions
- an awareness of housing and homelessness issues
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- an ability to build and maintain good working relationships with internal and external partners
- excellent time management to organise and prioritise workload
- an ability to work well as part of a team and also on own initiative
