Assistant Director (Legal and Governance)

Up to £77,413 per annum plus £5000pa Monitoring Officer allowance

Welwyn Hatfield Council is entering a new era, with a brand-new senior management team.  We want you to be at the heart of it and take our Council to the next level.

With Monitoring Officer experience, you will be a strategic thinker, a relationship builder, with political nous and intellect.  You will be an important part of the senior leadership team, providing sound guidance and governance advice to colleagues and elected members.

You’ll have an exceptional track record in the provision of legal services, in giving strategic legal advice, and in delivering projects. You will be able to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines and have the ability to lead and motivate the teams.

To deliver this role you will be a fully qualified lawyer and have experience in Local Government Law.  You will fully understand the complexities of local government and the changing and challenging environment within which we work and be able to contribute positively to helping the council successfully deliver its goals.
