1 x Permanent

1 x Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity for 12 Months

Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work.  We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best.  We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.

We are looking for a qualified town planner to join the Strategic Policy Team to work on an exciting and wide range of projects including our new Local Plan 2033, the RTPI award winning Stamford Hill Area Action Plan, and Future Shoreditch.

You will need a post graduate qualification in Town Planning (or equivalent) and will need to be a member of, or have eligibility for, the Royal Town Planning Institute.

To be able to do this role, you must have a sound understanding of planning policy and legislation. You must have good technical knowledge and understand issues relating to the preparation and implementation of local planning policy.

This position offers excellent opportunities for career progression and the starting salary will depend on experience of the successful candidate.

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.

If you want to work in a place where you can represent our values so we achieve the best for our residents, please visit www.hackney.gov.uk/jobs-careers to apply.

For further details on the role, please refer to the job description and person specification. It is essential that your supporting statement, address how your skills, knowledge and experience meet all aspects of the post, as indicated in the person specification.

Closing date: 23 September 2018 @ 22:59hrs

Interview date: 3rd, 4th & 5th October
