About the role This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience working in the Insurance Team, part of the Council's Financial Services. As part of the Council's commitment to provide high quality and efficient services, we are looking to recruit an apprentice who can support the Council's Insurance Team. As the Insurance Apprentice you will be supporting the Insurance Team Leader and the Senior Insurance Officers to deliver a range of varied activities within the insurance function to all departments with the aim of minimising the Council's exposure to financial loss and liability. The main duties of the Insurance Apprentice will be to: · Ensure that all claims are properly recorded and allocated; · Utilise the Council's computerised insurance claims package; LACHS (Local Authority Claims Handling System); · Develop and manage positive working relationships; · Respond to customer queries and escalate issues; · Identify and suggest any improvements to current ways of working in order to deliver a more efficient and effective insurance service for customers; Develop a good understanding of general insurance and internal compliance activities.

About you The successful candidate will be a positive, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who is keen to learn. They will receive on-the-job training in a variety of disciplines, including insurance, customer service, finance, and communications, gaining experience and required technical skills. This role will offer successful candidates an incredible opportunity to gain experience of working in a specialist field which affects everyone across the organisation and comes with different responsibilities and duties. If you have 3 GCSEs at grade A*-C or equivalent including Maths and English (we will consider applications where results are still pending). You will have the opportunity to achieve a CII Level 4 Diploma in Insurance. Please note an equivalent or higher-level qualification in the same professional area (Insurance) cannot be held.
