The role


Are you looking to make a difference?
Building on Hertfordshire’s positive record in safeguarding children, you’ll take a leading role in performance management and quality assurance. Sustaining our success in multi-agency working will be central: as a key link for Hertfordshire’s children’s Safeguarding Partnership Arrangements and the Safeguarding Adults Board, you’ll lead on partnership working and innovation and will be closely involved in service developments.

The role includes managing a large team of safeguarding and looked after children professionals as well as a quality assurance team which includes the Principal Social Worker role.

The core functions of this position will be ensuring  the delivery of timely and high quality child protection conferences and children looked after reviews, ensuring safeguarding arrangements in both Childrens’ and Adults’ services are smooth running and effective and ensuring that, across the service,  an evidence based, ‘continuous improvement’ approach is taken in regard to practice.

At every stage, you’ll be supported by a well-established senior management team and have exceptional opportunities for learning and development.

The requirements

We’re looking for someone who can make a significant contribution to the future strategic direction of our service, including the development of childcare policy and practice.

Your substantial experience of managing children’s services will include extensive multi-agency working, where you will have proved your ability to negotiate successfully. Evidence of applying performance management and quality assurance systems is essential. You’ll also be capable of identifying the learning and development needed to support service improvements and cultural change.

A qualified and registered social worker, you’ll ideally hold a relevant management qualification. As you will be ensuring value for money across the service, budgetary management skills are important.
