Norlington School and 6th Form is a small 11-16 boy’s school with a mixed 6th form school. Over the past 5 year’s the school has transformed itself into one of the highest performing schools in the country and has been recognised by the Minister for State Schools on three separate occasions for student achievement.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant for September 2018 to join our Inclusion Department. The role will involve working alongside teachers to support students with SEN in a wide variety of subjects and providing targeted intervention programmes at lunchtime, before and after school to support students to improve the skills they need to become effective learners in the classroom and successful adults.
The school is committed to providing all staff with excellent professional development and the Inclusion department has regular training sessions which focus on developing the skills needed to ensure we are an outstanding team who continue to achieve above average outcomes for students with additional needs. This post would be equally suited to high quality candidates committed to a TA career or an ambitious graduate with an interest in building up school experience prior to teacher training.
The successful applicants will demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills as well as the ability to work as part of a team and a clear empathy for 11-18 year olds. Training and/or experience in supporting students with additional learning needs such as Moderate Learning Difficulties; Global Developmental Delay; ASD; ADD/ADHD; Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties; and/or Literacy Difficulties would be essential. Experience in supporting students with physical disabilities would be advantageous for one of the posts available.
You will work 32.5 hours per week. 8.45am until 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and alternate Fridays 8.45am to 1.30pm/3.30pm – term-time only (45.6 weeks per year). This is a fixed term post from September 2018 to end of term July 2019. There is a pay review pending.
Posts will be subject to a Prohibition check for all roles involved with the management of pupils. Norlington School and 6th Form is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure.
