Crawley Borough Council is looking for an Asset Surveyor to join their Asset Team (Investment & Corporate Estate). Reporting to the Asset Manager, you will be dealing with all aspects of managing the Council’s diverse property asset portfolio (excludes Housing) currently with an annual rent roll of £6.1M varied stand-alone projects, such as the delivery of development sites or corporate property requirements and a variety of property related queries from Officers in other Council Directorates, Members and the Public.
Preferably RICS qualified, but not essential, you will be able to demonstrate competent property management and landlord & tenant experience, a good working knowledge of all relevant and associated legislation, competency at carrying out valuations and viability appraisals and in addition a working knowledge of the planning system would be useful.
You will possess excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, together with good IT and problem solving skills, and a positive attitude to work. Experience of working in a commercial property environment is essential and experience of working in both the public and private sectors is desirable, though not essential.
We are a small team and work supportively together to effectively manage 700 tenants and licensees. However, coupled with this team working, the ability to work self-sufficiently, appropriately managing a case load is paramount.
The role is potentially three days a week part time, though we have flexibility on these hours for the right person.
