HOUSING BENEFIT OVERPAYMENT OFFICER (PART-TIME)
Scale 3-4 (from £17,681 per annum, pro rata to hours worked)

The Council is looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Housing Benefit Overpayment Officer to maximise collection and the recovery of outstanding Housing Benefit overpayment debts owed to the Local Authority.
The successful candidate should have a good knowledge of Housing Benefit legislation to ensure the collection and recovery of outstanding debt is in accordance with Regulations and the Council’s procedures and policies. You will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to discuss debts in a polite, professional and sensitive way; it is therefore essential you have experience of working with the public, stakeholders and be able to demonstrate a confident and diplomatic approach. You must also have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades A-C in Maths and English, or equivalent.
This position is offered on a part time basis of 18.5 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning).
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide information, advice and instruction in accurate spoken English is an essential requirement.
The successful candidate will be automatically enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme and will be required to obtain a Basic Disclosure.
