Thurrock Healthy Lifestyle Service is part of Public Health and is an integrated provider of adult health improvement interventions supporting people to make healthier lifestyle choices, to help reduce their risk of ill health in later life. Services include stop smoking support, weight management programmes, and provision of NHS health checks, as well as referral into external services to enable individuals to make positive changes to their current lifestyle.
The successful candidate will be working as part of the team to support smokers within Thurrock in becoming smoke free. They will be responsible for providing stop smoking treatment in line with best practice guidance, using a combination of behavioural change techniques and pharmacological advice.
An ideal candidate for this role will have good interpersonal and communication skills and the following essential skills:
- A minimum of 2-years’ experience in health/health promotion or closely related field
- National Centre for Smoking Cessation Training (NCSCT) accredited practitioner certificate
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of physiological and psychological effects of smoking
- Experience in the assessment, application and monitoring of behaviour change techniques to support a stop smoking attempt
