Demand for social housing in Thurrock is much greater than the supply and the Allocations Scheme therefore provides access to accommodation that is responsive to the needs of local people in a fair, consistent and transparent way.
This role will ensure that the Allocations Service continuously improves services delivered to both internal and external customers. This involves delivering a high quality customer support service for those approaching the Council with a housing need, ensuring the efficient maintenance of the Council’s Housing Register as well as guaranteeing that good quality information can be obtained for both reporting and assessment purposes. This will mean being self-motivated and work with a minimum of supervision and be able to manage personal time and workloads. In addition to this you will have the ability to work with both internal and external services to achieve operational objectives.
Other aspects of the work include providing a comprehensive housing information and advice service explaining housing options enabling customers to make informed decisions based on knowledge of the options available to them; participating in the management of the Housing Register in line with Housing Legislation, policy and best practice and providing administrative support to the Allocation team, including maintaining statistical databases for internal and external reporting purposes.
You will need to have a minimum of five GCSE’s at grade C or above as well as at least 1 years’ experience of working in a busy office environment working to specific targets
