REVENUES AND BENEFITS SERVICE
Principal Officer Grade 10 (£38,052 per annum)

The Council is looking to recruit an experienced, professional and highly motivated Benefits Manager to support the Revenues and Benefits Service Manager in the delivery of an effective Benefits Service to the residents of the Borough.
The successful candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of Housing Benefit legislation and experience in all aspects of a modern Benefits Service including, housing benefits, council tax support, discretionary housing payments, a visiting service, aspects of universal support and any other relevant aspects of welfare benefits. The postholder will ensure that benefit related legislation is interpreted and applied correctly in the determination of entitlement and reflected in the systems and processes in operation. The postholder will ensure the timely and accurate completion of the housing benefit subsidy returns and any other required returns. The postholder will also contribute to the management of Revenues and Benefits including budgeting, performance management and other corporate requirements. You will have excellent communication skills, and the proven ability to effectively manage staff and workloads. You must also have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades A-C in Maths and English, or equivalent; a management qualification at Level 4 is desirable.
The post is offered on a full time basis of 37 hours per week.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide information, advice and instruction in accurate spoken English is an essential requirement.
The successful candidate will be automatically enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme and will be required to obtain a Basic Disclosure.
