Applications are invited for the post of Programme Manager in the People and Place Directorate, based in the Town Hall. The successful applicant will be a member of the Programme Management and Climate Change section undertaking duties to enable the efficient delivery of Town Deal and other projects within the Council’s Capital Programme.
The post is offered on a full-time basis of 37 hours per week.
The main duties of the post involve leading on the delivery of capital and other projects with a focus on project management, ensuring project progress against milestones, financial and risk management. The post holder will ensure timely delivery of projects to support the objectives of the Council Plan and take a lead role in identifying and resolving issues, risks and exceptions, and reporting on project progress to Senior Management Team and funding bodies.
The successful applicant should be qualified to degree level and preferably hold an appropriate project management qualification and have extensive experience of delivering major regeneration projects.
Applicants should have experience of working with other organisations, both in the delivery and funding of projects and with the general public.
Applicants should also have excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. You must have the ability to travel efficiently around the Borough to conduct site visits and attend meetings.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide information, advice and instruction in accurate spoken English is an essential requirement.
The successful candidate will be automatically enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme and will be required to obtain a Basic Disclosure.
