The Role

We are searching for 2 innovative and enthusiastic Senior Policy and Project Officers to play a leading role in delivering and supporting aspects of strategy, policy, scrutiny, improvement and transformation in key areas of work across the organisation.  These are generic roles within the Council’s strategy and change service which provides support across the organisation, and is flexible in meeting changing priorities. As such the focus of these posts is not fixed but the work is likely to include:

  • Working on a wide range of ongoing and emerging policy and strategy work for Corporate Services. This could be working with services to develop and implement innovative new participatory approaches to tackle social isolation or working with members to explore how we can improve our scrutiny function.
  • Leading our support to our adults and health scrutiny arrangements, including supporting the important work of the North Central London Joint Overview Scrutiny Committee focused on the emerging thinking for NHS services in the area. This will in particular require strong stakeholder and relationship management skills in a complex and fast moving environment.

Across these roles you will confidently manage projects with high levels of risk and complexity, you will quickly adapt to different working environments and teams on a regular basis. You will take a forward thinking approach to evidence-based policy and research to inform decision-making and implement long-term strategies. With the Camden 2025 plan underway, these roles are crucial to shaping and improving service delivery and corporate priorities across the Council.

About you

For both of these roles the successful candidates will need to have experience of excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience of working with elected members and senior officers, the ability to engage with a range of audiences and present complex information in a clear and accessible manner.  A strong background in project management and programme delivery with a recognised qualification in the field or equivalent experience will also be beneficial.

The ability to analyse data and information, as well as a proven record of solving challenging problems using your initiative is important to the role. You will have excellent communication and report writing skills.

Alongside this, the post holders would be expected to have substantial experience of working in one or more of these areas:

  • Experience and understanding of local government
  • Innovation and future thinking
  • Strategic and financial planning, development, implementation and monitoring
  • Support for inspection and engagement
  • Project and risk management
  • Service review and redesign
