Senior Contracts Lawyer - Capital Projects

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

Our Legal Services team provides comprehensive legal services to the council and to our external clients. We are a hardworking, friendly team and we  pride ourselves on the quality and responsiveness of our service.  The team plays a pivotal role in supporting the council’s high profile and ambitious programme of regeneration and its commercial aspirations.

The Post

These two roles in our fast growing contracts team, and is primarily to support the delivery of the council’s regeneration programmes, including developing South Kilburn into a sustainable and mixed neighbourhood to create a real sense of place and belonging, as well as projects in  St. Raphael’s Estate and Northwick  and many other parts of the borough.

This post offers an opportunity to become involved in a spectrum of the more complex and cutting-edge legal work that other Boroughs might outsource and to benefit from the breadth and depth of knowledge of colleagues in the team.

The Person

As an experienced senior contracts lawyer, you will have a sound understanding and extensive experience of regeneration projects, procurement regulations and statutory processes that apply within local government.  This doesn’t mean you have to have worked with local government previously. You will need specific expertise in advising on construction and other regeneration related contracts.

You will be a strong team player, able to play an effective influencing role in project teams, with enthusiasm for the projects that will be the primary focus of this role.
