COMMUNITY RANGER – 2 year temporary contract
GRADE D - £19,446 - £21,693 Hours - 37 per week
Erewash Borough Council has been successful in obtaining over £740,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to refurbish Victoria Park, Ilkeston.
The Victoria Park Heritage Project has seen the complete restoration of three key features within the historic park – the bandstand, the pavilion and the pergola arch. The work has included new heritage bedding displays, improvements to pathways and a new programme of activities and opportunities for more local people to volunteer and play an active role in maintaining the park for future generations. The park dates back to the 19th Century and has achieved Green Flag status in the past years.
As part of this project an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Operational Services Directorate. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has a passion for working outdoors, who can empower the local community to protect their local heritage.
You must have excellent organisational skills and be an effective communicator.
The main duties of the post include:-
- To create and deliver a programme of events and activities based on the history and heritage of the park;
- To build up and coordinate a core of volunteers to participate in the care of the Park’s heritage and enhance the enjoyment and learning of visitors.
- To develop learning materials and guides through multiple channels including social media;
- To monitor the daily numbers of visitors and carry out customer satisfaction surveys to provide accurate management information.
Work will include working evenings, weekends and bank holidays, as well as day time working. This post requires the successful candidate to have a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check.
