You will be joining the diverse and dynamic Adopt Birmingham Regional Adoption Agency, a unique collaboration with a Voluntary Adoption Agency.

We are seeking senior social workers to undertake adoption assessments of need and complete adult work including Birth Records Counselling and Access to Files. We are an experienced and motivated team who will support the successful candidates to develop their own therapeutic skills when working with complex adoption issues and identifying appropriate therapeutic support packages by accessing the Adoption Support Fund.

We have access to a Clinical Psychologist who values and supports the therapeutic skills within the team and can provide consultation and guidance when supporting complex adoption issues within the family

There is opportunity to co-develop and deliver a range of adoption support resources and initiatives promoting therapeutic parenting skills, including Foundations for Attachment and be part of respite events and themed workshops. We offer regular supervision and a range of training opportunities to develop your understanding of relationship-based practice and developmental trauma to underpin your work.  

About you

With an approved social work qualification, ideally with 3 years post qualification in childcare social work, you will be registered with Social Work England, together with extensive experience of working with vulnerable children and their families, as well as effective partnership working with statutory and voluntary agencies. Resilient under pressure, you’ll need a thorough working knowledge of professional social work practices and relevant legislation, along with an ongoing commitment to professional learning and development and an adherence to Birmingham Children’s Trust values.
