You will be joining the diverse and dynamic Adopt Birmingham Regional Adoption Agency, a unique collaboration with a Voluntary Adoption Agency.
In Birmingham, over half of the children waiting for adoption are of Black, Black and other or Asian and other minority ethnic backgrounds and many will have a seen or unseen disability. We seek to increase the diversity of our staff group, to ensure an inclusive welcome to those seeking to adopt.
We are seeking senior social workers to undertake adoption assessment (agency and non-agency) and preparation, promoting early permanence. Our ambition is to offer continuity of allocated social worker from initial home visit, undertaking suitability assessment and supporting starting to children and their families on their journey through to the making of an adoption order. You will provide tailor made adoption support at all stages of the journey.
There is opportunity to co-deliver a range of adoption preparation and support initiatives promoting therapeutic parenting skills, Stay and Play sessions, and themed workshops working in partnership with adopter co trainers. You will have regular supervision and training opportunities to develop your understanding of relationship based practice and developmental trauma to underpin your work.
Holding a social work qualification, with 3 years post qualification in childcare social work, you will be registered with Social Work England. You will bring extensive evidence of experience of working with vulnerable children and their families, and effective partnership working with statutory and voluntary agencies. Resilient under pressure, you will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of professional social work practices and legislation, with an ongoing commitment to professional learning and development.
Interviews will be held on the 3rd and 4th November
