Are you passionate about children and young people with SEND achieving their aspirations?

SEN Assessment Co-ordinators play a crucial role in ensuring that high quality, aspirational outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities are being delivered. Assessment co-ordinators work in partnership with children, young people, families, schools and other support services co-ordinating assessments, co-producing and monitoring statutory education health and care plans to ensure that the needs of CYP with SEND are well understood and that appropriate provision and support is in place to help them meet their aspirations.  The role can be emotionally challenging and often highly pressurised but also immensely rewarding offering the opportunity to make a real difference to families’ lives.  You will form a part of an evolving but hugely supportive team structure within a dedicated SEND and Inclusion service.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND and their families.  Resilience, diplomacy and tenacity will be as important as your ability to work in partnership with families, schools and other stakeholders to develop strong and effective EHCPs.

Good clear written and verbal communications skills are an essential element of the role with an ability to vary your communication style as appropriate to a wide range of audiences.  You will already have a track record in using strength based approaches to working with children, young people and families, and in developing and maintaining good working relationships with other professionals including facilitating multiagency meetings and reviews. The successful candidate will be able to work under their own initiative on a specified caseload and as a part of a wider team to statutory timescales and deadlines.

For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Paul Greenwood (SENAT Team Manager) on 0151 511 8713.

Interviews will be held week commencing 10th October, 2022.
