Barnsley MBC is a strong, well-managed and capable council. It punches above its weight, regionally and nationally, and has been shortlisted for Council of the Year.
We’re excited to be recruiting here in Barnsley, the place of possibilities!
As a council we have a number of priorities, not least Childrens and Public Health Nursing Services, and we want every child in the borough to achieve their full potential, live healthier lives and be safe and happy.
We're looking to recruit highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed individuals to strengthen the Authority’s most valuable asset, its workforce.
We are deeply committed to achieving the very best outcomes for children and young people in Barnsley. Children and their families are at the centre of all that we do. We are an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and CQC rated ‘Outstanding’ authority and remain highly aspirational to deliver ‘even better’ services and outcomes for children, young people, and their families in the borough.
Barnsley Council’s Business Support Service is a fast paced, diverse and dynamic support service where no two days are the same but are equally rewarding. We are a corporate service and work in partnership with the services we support to enable the delivery of front line and statutory services to the people and communities of Barnsley. If you thrive in a busy, interesting and rewarding environment and can provide a solid contribution to making a real difference in the lives of the children in our Borough we would like to hear from you.
The role will include facilitating, scheduling and recording of sensitive and confidential Safeguarding meetings, at which family members are often present, co-ordination of statutory information, maintaining records and dealing with a range of safeguarding enquiries in support of Children’s Services, vital work protecting the most vulnerable children in the borough. The successful post holder may also be asked to cover business support duties supporting other BMBC services at a range of sites across the borough from time to time.
You will need to hold a level 2 qualification, have a business support background with an understanding of servicing meetings. Applicants should be aware that there will be regular exposure to emotionally charged information in connection with vulnerable children and a level of personal resilience is required.
You will be flexible in your approach in order to ensure the overall service objectives are achieved, be an excellent team player and willing to make a solid contribution to the smooth running of the service.
In return, you will be joining a supportive and progressive service, you will be provided with training and opportunities to progress your continuous personal development, together with support from your Team Leader and fellow team members in an enthusiastic and dedicated team.
