About the role

The Governors invite applications for the post of Headteacher.

We are interested in applications from current Headteachers, or aspirational Deputy Headteachers or Senior Leaders who are seeking to step up to a headship position.

At St Michael’s our vision is that every child receives an excellent education and feels valued for who they are. We want to lay a foundation of curiosity, tapping into children’s natural curiosity about the world around them, and to foster their ambition by recognising and responding to their individuality and their talents. We seek to treat everyone in our community with love, honesty, forgiveness and respect, rooted in the principle of ‘do to others as you would have them do to you’ (Luke 6:31).

We are looking to appoint a committed and inspiring individual who can provide the leadership required to maintain a caring, inclusive, aspirational and exciting learning environment with a strong Christian ethos, where children are happy, safe and thrive in everything they do.

The successful applicant will be dynamic and innovative and will lead our school into the next stage of development. They must demonstrate flair and enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to inspire others through collaborative working practice, an attention to detail, and a commitment to continuously raising standards and delivering sustained improvement for all.

Our school offers:

  • A culture of creative, inspiring and inclusive learning-experiences where all children are individually nurtured, enabling them to achieve their personal and academic potential.
  • A culture where we value each child’s contribution.
  • An environment which is friendly, safe and secure, where children and adults work together with enjoyment and enthusiasm.
  • An innovative, hard-working and dedicated staff team.
  • An enthusiastic and supportive Governing Body committed to school improvement.
  • Strong parental support and a proactive PTA.
  • Strong links with the Parish Church and the local community.
  • A working environment where Christian values are embedded in school practice.

The successful candidate will have:

  • The best interests of the children at the heart of all their decisions.
  • Clear leadership and organisational skills combined with flair and creativity.
  • The ability to build on success and manage change.
  • An understanding of strategic finances and management of budgets.
  • Humility, good humour, optimism and resilience.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and the welfare and wellbeing of children and staff.
  • A strong commitment to the Christian ethos of the school.
