The role -
In this interesting and challenging role we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the service and help make us the 'best in class' and provide effective leadership for the Housing Allocations, Housing Needs and Private Housing sections which includes housing allocations, housing options and advice, homelessness assessments and provision and management of temporary accommodation, private sector renewal, enforcement and grants.
The successful candidate will :-
- play a major role in the strategic management of the teams including the development of new policy, innovation and good practice
- ensure that active and effective customer involvement is continuous across the department’s activities. This will include leading the production / reviews of the housing allocations policy, homelessness strategy and the private sector housing assistance policy
- have the vision to create the strategic direction for the services required over the next few years and articulate this to all our stakeholders
- be results orientated with a demonstrable desire to design and deliver excellent services that meet the Council's overall objectives
- an excellent negotiator with well developed people skills.
You will be experienced at budgetary and financial management, and as well as leading your own service areas, will be expected to play a part in the corporate management of the Housing Department along with other senior colleagues

An on-site Occupational Health Advisor. We have an occupational health service provided by East Kent Hospitals University Foundation NHS Trust.
