Charnwood Borough Council in Leicestershire is one of the largest district councils in the country, serving around 183,000 people. We are an ambitious and dynamic organisation with a strong focus on supporting communities, looking after the environment, and creating a thriving economy. The range of services is varied from refuse and recycling collections to the operation of a theatre and historic markets.
As a council we are customer focused, both internally and externally. We have ambitious plans and are looking for a creative and inspirational Head of Strategic Housing with the ability and the skills to translate vision and strategy into reality.
Charnwood provides a dynamic and exciting professional landscape in which to work and there has never been a better time to join us in what is a pivotal role in our drive to deliver excellent housing services to our customers.
As our Head of Strategic Housing, you will play a key role in meeting the challenges of providing our statutory housing functions, including homelessness, and raising standards in the private sector. You will also lead on our housing strategies, policy development and exploring all opportunities to meet future housing needs, including through redevelopment projects, and working with planning colleagues to deliver new housing.
If you have the leaderships skills, knowledge and strategic thinking required to help shape our future, together with the experience and ability to manage a range of frontline services which support some of the most vulnerable members of our community, then we would welcome an application from you.
There are many benefits to working for us. The Council offers between 27 and 32 days of leave (depending on length of service); agile working for many roles; opportunities for professional development and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Our services are built on our values of being customer focussed and proud of Charnwood as well as being committed to working together. The Council strongly believes a diverse and inclusive workforce helps make our services better. We value the individual strengths of each colleague and the potential they bring. Additionally, we are a Disability Confident Employer and have signed the Armed Forces Covenant.
Colleagues are also actively engaged through our Staff Forum and groups such as our Health and Wellbeing Group and Equality Working Group.
