Are you a people-person with the skills and willingness to develop into an Animal Health Enforcement Officer while injecting modern ideas and thinking into back-office systems. If so this interesting role could be the position for you.

The Public Protection Partnership is excited to offer an opportunity to support the delivery of our key objectives relating to animal health & welfare including livestock and imported pets and the protection of the food chain through a combination of enforcement, advice and partnership working. You will be asked to undertake proactive inspections and give advice relating to the health and welfare of pets and livestock.

We are seeking applicants who are interested in working within a busy Trading Standards Team.

Although you will need to hold a relevant diploma or graduate level qualification to be employed as an animal health officer, we are prepared to support the right candidate in obtaining the level of qualification required to be a fully qualified animal health officer.  However, it is essential that applicants hold a full driving licence to undertake this role.

The Public Protection Partnership is a shared service between West Berkshire and Bracknell Forest Councils covering Trading Standards, Environmental Health and Licensing activity.

We are ideally looking to offer the successful candidate the full number of hours advertised above. We may however consider offering less hours than advertised providing they meet the requirements of the role and service which will be determined by the recruiting manager.

West Berkshire Council offer excellent employment benefits such as flexible working, access to a wide range of relevant training, local government pension scheme, family friendly policies, a range of local discounts and much more. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement of 27 days  per annum rising to a maximum of 32 days, depending on how long you’ve worked for us and the grade of your job.

For an informal discussion please contact Kevin Thompson 01635 519703.

Interviews are due to take place on 25th October 2022.
