About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Skills, Education and Employment Team (SEET) at East Sussex County Council. SEET’s purpose is to meet the training and employment priorities of local business and education providers. The aim is to help sustain and grow our local economy and support residents into meaningful work and learning.

This officer role will support our ESTAR project. ESTAR brokers employment and training and support for those living in supported and temporary accommodation and refuges as well as refugees and the Gypsy, Romana, Traveller communities. You will work with training, employment and housing providers in upskilling and supporting the homeless and those at risk of homelessness into work and more secure accommodation. You will report to an ESTAR Employment Co-ordinator.

The post-holder will need to have strong communication skills and the ability to work in partnership. You will need to be able to manage project systems, organise meetings and events and to learn quickly. You should have strong administrative and project planning skills and want to play an active role in facilitating the success of the team.

You will be able to foster effective working relationships and manage your time effectively. Your workload will be varied, from processing payments in line with Council procedures to posting updates for social media and visiting project partners and meeting participants. The right candidate will know that ‘how’ you do something can be just as important as ‘what’ you do.

The role will be a hybrid one, worked partly from home and partly from County Hall, Lewes. It is a fixed-term post for one year.

Interviews will be held on the afternoon of 10th October 2022.  Shortlisted applicants will be notified by the end of 30th September.

For an informal discussion, please contact: Florence Cape at Florence.Cape@eastsussex.gov.uk or Michael Selmes at Michael.Selmes@eastsussex.gov.uk
