About the role

We are looking for a new member of the Estates Team at East Sussex County Council. If you are willing to use and develop your skills to help deliver an effective and friendly service supporting the delivery of the County Council services, we would like to hear from you.

We have a position in the team to deliver the service across asset and estates management functions, with a focus on landlord and tenant transactions. We are ideally seeking a RICS qualified general practice surveyor. 

Your role will be focused on helping to manage the Council’s portfolio. You will be involved in;

  • Providing advice and information to internal and external clients; 
  • Negotiating and managing property transactions;
  • Working with the team, internal departments and external organisations to develop options for the Council’s mixed property portfolio;
  • Seeking new opportunities to provide the Council with income through its property assets;
  • Negotiating and instructing on property agreements of all types;

You will manage your own portfolio of cases and projects whilst working as part of our team.

A laptop and mobile phone will be supplied. The team works in a hybrid manner; working mainly from home. The role requires the ability to travel around the County, to areas sometimes limited with public transport so you will ideally have a full drivers licence and access to a vehicle.

The post comes with an initial 22 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and 2 concessionary days; a local government salary-related pension scheme is offered, as well as access to ESCC Wellbeing and Benefits offers.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
