We are currently looking for a Customer Services Assistant to join our busy Development Control team, the successful applicant will contribute to the Council’s legal responsibilities associated with the determination of planning applications, planning enforcement and associated work for the Council.
You should have good inter-personal skills, be able to produce accurate documentation in a timely manner and respond to customer’s requests for information about planning matters and the progression of planning applications.
You should have a basic understanding of the general principles of the UK Town Planning system and should hold GCSE’s in Mathematics and English at Grade C or above or equivalent vocational or academical experience.
You should also be a committed team player who can work on their own initiative to complete tasks and achieve targets with agreed programmes and should have the ability to use Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel and Outlook to be able to create and amend documents and the willingness to undertake appropriate training to enable the use and maintain specialist “client based” IT systems and parts of the Councils website.
Previous experience in a Local Authority and an understanding of the role of officers and elected members in the determination of planning applications would be desirable.
