About Hillingdon

Hillingdon Council: Putting our residents first.

About the job

This is a fixed term contract covering maternity leave for 6-9 months. If you're passionate about supporting Hillingdon's children and families to achieve their full potential, and have the skills and training required to support young children and parents to learn and develop new skills and abilities, then this is an ideal job for you!
The London Borough of Hillingdon has 16 children's centres delivering early childhood services for the local community, in partnership with colleagues from Health, Midwifery and Children's Services.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Children's Centre Coordinator to oversee the day to day running of a designated centre and support the Locality Lead Officer in delivering high quality, customer facing services.

You will promote a high quality and emotionally secure, consistent warm, supportive, creative and challenging environment within the Centre, for children and their families and ensure that they can access services to better meet their needs.

You will also assist in the recruitment process for new members of the team and help develop, train and manage their individual performance.

About the person

As a coordinator, you will hold an NVQ level 3 in early years education and care, or a recognised qualification in a related profession e.g. social work, education, youth work, child and family development. A management qualification such as National Professional Qualification in Integrated Centre Leadership, ILM (or equivalent) would be highly advantageous.

To be successful in the post, you will have demonstrable experience of working within an early years environment and have experience in coordinating services for families with young children.

You will also have experience of supervising staff and volunteers, and be able to work as part of a vibrant multi-disciplinary team.

Moreover, you will have a sound knowledge of child development, the Early Years Foundation Stage and the core purpose for children's centres. In addition you will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to converse effectively with families and a wide range of partners.
