Troubled Families Employment Advisor

Fixed Term / Secondment contract until March 2020 - Full Time

£30,012 - £31,764 per annum (SO1)

Hackney Council is looking for someone to help families experiencing barriers to find sustainable employment. This is an important role within a flagship project that will have a direct impact on the life opportunities of some of our most vulnerable residents. As an Employment Adviser in our Troubled Families team, you will be working directly with families that have complex needs. Using a family support approach, you will be helping our residents find sustained employment.

Your work will be part of our flagship Hackney Works scheme. Day to day you will be working with residents of all abilities – providing coaching, support, creating action plans and identifying training needs. Above all, this is a tailored service designed to address individual needs, enabling residents to overcome barriers and develop skills to support job readiness.

You should have worked in a similar employability support role.  You will need to be used to caseload management, be able to prioritise your work be used to working within a target driven environment. You should also have experience of assisting to build professional partnerships, which strengthen the pathways to employment for the families and individuals on your caseload.

To be able to perform well in this role, you need an interest in the wider family agenda. You should understand the issues faced by the families you will work with, and be keen to find ways to help them overcome any barriers to work. Ideally you will bring experience of working with vulnerable groups and have a passion for helping get the best for people who need us most.
