About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the team at the secure children's home in Hailsham. Hours are 18.5 hours a week, shift pattern to be discussed, working every other weekend, all year round including bank holidays. The salary scale is lifted to reflect a weekend working requirement. Working on a public holiday attracts enhanced hourly rates.
Preparing and serving lunch and dinner for young people and staff, some with specific dietary requirements.
Discussing with the young people what they would like to be included in the menus.
Ordering and shopping of food, drink, some equipment and cleaning products, checking deliveries and maintaining adequate stock levels.
Minimum of food hygiene level 2 and be prepared to complete level 3
Mostly lone working, with some periods of working with another cook, sharing the responsibility for hygiene and maintenance of the kitchen.
Creating healthy nutritious home cooked meals within a budget, and creating and implementing seasonal menus.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
