About the role:

Reporting to the Director of Public Health, the postholder will work alongside members of the public health senior leadership team overseeing all aspects of the team’s operational business. This role will provide senior leadership to ensure that the Public Health team delivers its aims
and responsibilities effectively, efficiently and to a high standard of governance. The postholder will
be required to pull together a system that adequately supports the varied and complex public health
responsibilities, commissioning and resources; supporting the Director of Public Health and the Public
Health Senior Leadership Team to improve outcomes.

About the candidate:

You will have demonstrable experience from holding similar senior operational roles and be passionate about public health. You will be able to apply excellent organisational, strategic, and people skills which will maximise operational effectiveness, ensure resilience and enable the fulfilment of strategic ambitions.
You will have experience of improving systems, processes, and approaches to enhance quality and effectiveness, and experience of achieving good governance and compliance, with a thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks and decision making processes within local government. You should also have strong financial management skills, with experience in budget management, interrogating data and generating accurate finance and performance reports as well as excellent report writing skills.
You will have a strong background in relevant operations experience, be curious, confident and a strong team player. You will be able to work successfully with multiple partners and elected representatives demonstrating strong relational skills. You will also manage a team of support staff and will therefore have demonstrable staff management skills and experience.
