Starting salary £28,154 with potential progression to £31,092 pro rata on achieving designated skills and experience

15 hours per week (hybrid working)

A rare opportunity has arisen in our award-winning communications team to help us continue delivering external and internal comms that can change people’s lives.

This part-time role (hours negotiable but possibly working Monday and Tuesday) is one half of a job-share managing and enhancing the council’s reputation, and actively promoting its strategic priorities and services through a range of communication channels. You would be working as part of a creative team – one that blends youth with experience – alongside specialists in marketing, digital comms, design and print, and web and intranet.

The focus will be on PR, media relations and internal communications, and provide support and resilience to the whole of the council’s integrated communication and marketing service.

You will be jointly responsible for running an effective press office, ensuring all enquiries are resolved to agreed timescales and approval processes, and the enquiry database is maintained accurately. You and your job-share will be the operational leads on internal communications, ensuring that content is uploaded daily to a staff intranet, and that a weekly bulletin is approved and distributed to all staff. On any given day you could also be writing copy for print or digital, whether that’s our magazine that goes to 47,000 homes in the borough or any one of our websites.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the media, senior staff and councillors as well as provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
