Contract Officer - Salary up to £38,178 pa
See life in a different way? So do we!
At Ashford we are proud to do things differently. We don’t operate like a council, we think entrepreneurially, commercially and like a business. For instance, we are funding the construction of the impressive looking town centre cinema and leisure complex and are enabling the delivery of over £650m of investment in our borough – regeneration that is unparalleled in the county right now.
We are therefore seeking a high quality, motivated professional to play a key role not just in our service but across the council. We are ambitious, keen to build on our strong record of accomplishment of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Ashford Borough Council is a great place to be. And now a great opportunity has come up in our Corporate Property and Project Service for a Contracts officer.
This is a new role and will include working collaboratively with colleagues across the whole authority and will be part of a highly effective Procurement Team, which is delivering strong strategic relationships already. You will obviously have extensive experience in contract management and be able to demonstrate negotiation skills at the highest level, with the capability to manage the council’s relationship with a wide range of contractors and sub-contractors.
This new post will be pivotal in delivering a corporate contract management strategy, ensuring that:
- all appropriate information about our contracts is recorded and documented centrally
- a proportionate, risk based approach is taken
- roles and responsibilities for different contracts are defined
- contracts are classified and appropriately segmented in terms of risk and/or the opportunities they may present.
The successful candidate will take a holistic approach to the contracts within the authority, developing strategies and approaches for different types of contracts and making sure all contract managers know of contract lifecycles.
We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous staff benefits and discounts, including a lease car scheme. Come and join the Ashford Borough Council family.
