Are you a committed health and safety professional looking to develop your career working for an emergency service?  

We are looking for an ambitious and proactive health and safety officer to provide advice and guidance to all levels of staff within the Community Protection Directorate which includes diverse services such as the Fire and Rescue, Trading Standards, Community Safety and Resilience. 

The post supports and assists the existing Health and Safety Adviser & Trainer and there is a unique opportunity to fully utilise existing health and safety skills and knowledge in a dynamic environment. 

The preferred candidate will hold a NEBOSH Certificate or Level 3 accredited Health and Safety qualification and be a Technical Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH), willing to work toward Graduate Membership. 

A Full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential together with the ability and flexibility to work outside of normal ‘office hours’ on occasions.

The successful candidate will have proven health and safety experience working within an emergency service or public sector organisation, be a self-motivated, practical, proactive and positive individual with good communication skills.  Strong analytical and IT skills are an important requirement for this role and good skills in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products is essential.  The work is varied, interesting and challenging but exceptionally rewarding.

The post is based at Ware Fire Station, Baldock Street, Ware but additional office space is available within County Hall, Pegs Lane, Hertford. Travel throughout the County of Hertfordshire will be required.
