Job Duties:

The Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) is a statutory service that provides free, impartial and confidential information, advice and support on matters relating to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The service is offered to parents and carers, children and young people aged between 0 and 25 years old.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join SENDIASS as an Information Coordinator. The role involves being the first point of contact for telephone helpline and email enquiries, providing information in relation to education, health and social care and to signpost onto relevant services and agencies. The post holder will also provide a range of support to families through the Education, Health and Care needs assessment process.    

It is essential that the post holder has excellent IT and communication skills and can operate in a sensitive and confidential environment. The successful candidate will be empathetic and be able to build rapport with families, practitioners and colleagues. You will need to be highly organised, able to use your own initiative and adapt to a changing workload as well as working well under pressure. The team work flexibly to support the delivery of a high-quality service. 

Relevant practical experience of working with families, knowledge of current SEND working practice and legislation would be a distinct advantage.
