Join our fantastic team, welcoming visitors to Upnor Castle. Medway Council’s Heritage Team is responsible for Rochester Castle, Upnor Castle, Temple Manor, Eastgate House and the Guildhall Museum. We are looking for individuals who would be interested in working at Upnor Castle. Upnor Castle is open for the tourist season, 1 April to October 31. The role includes welcoming visitors, working behind the till, keeping the site clean, tidy and safe and sharing the stories of this Elizabethan artillery fort. On occasions you may be required to cover shifts at our other heritage sites, this could be holiday, sick cover, for activities or special events.
You will be required to maximise visitors' enjoyment of Medway Council managed heritage attractions by maintaining excellent standards of service, optimising opportunities to generate income and ensuring that the site is well presented, safe and secure.
The successful candidate will assist with the weddings held at Upnor Castle, which includes viewings as well as providing a warm and friendly service on the day.
The casual shifts cover permanent staff annual leave, sickness and occasions we need extra staff on site. The days are 8.5 hrs a day April to September 6.5hrs a day in October.
