Democratic Services Assistant
(P01748)

Starting salary £24,593 with potential progression to £27,747 per annum on achieving designated skills and experience

37 hours per week

Would you like to work for a Council that prides itself on access to local democracy and upholding the principles of good governance?

If so, we are recruiting for a Democratic Services Assistant to join our small but very friendly governance team. Our offices are in the heart of beautiful Welwyn Garden City. We need you to administer various council meetings throughout the year and will give you the necessary training and support to play a full role in the democratic life of our council.

The main part of your job will be to organise, arrange and minute various council meetings and assist, as required, with bigger council meetings. There are strict legal timelines that apply to council meetings, so the timely preparation of accurate minutes is key. Council meetings tend to take place in the evening so some evening working will be needed. Otherwise, the Council offers hybrid and flexible working.

To do this job, we need you to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail. This is a small team, so we need a good team player who has a flexible approach and can work well with their colleagues to manage changing priorities.

If you think you might be the right person for us, we really look forward to receiving your application and meeting you!

Closing date for applications is 29 August 2022.

Assessments will be held on 5 September 2022.

Interviews will be held on 8 September 2022.
