About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialist Teaching Service for an experienced manager to join the Interim Provision Service (IPS) within ISEND.  This role is available to start October 2022 or January 2023.

The position is a full-time role as a Deputy Service Manager.  This role is responsible for coordinating the interim, alternative provision of children and young people with EHCPs (ages 5 to 25 years) who are out of school or college awaiting their next educational placement.  The role includes managing a team of specialist SEND peripatetic teachers, who work across East Sussex, providing creative and bespoke educational packages.

The successful candidate will ideally have substantial managerial experience which will include, coordinating provision for pupils with complex SEND.  You will need to be a qualified teacher with a knowledge of a broad range of SEND and have a working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice, SEN panels and an understanding of the complexities of the Statutory Assessment process. We are looking for a manager with a calm disposition and with the ability to problem solve under pressure.

The role will involve close liaison with the Assessment and Planning Team which is responsible for securing the children and young people’s future educational placement.
