About the role
East Sussex Youth Justice Service are looking to recruit two Youth Justice Workers, one based in Hastings and one to be based in Eastbourne with the ability to work countywide as required. You need to have experience of direct work with children and young people, undertaking assessments and planning and delivering interventions. You need to have a working knowledge of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and other criminal justice legislation.
The East Sussex Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency team whose overall aim is to prevent the risk of offending and re-offending by children and young people, improving their outcomes and delivering high quality practice. The role of Youth Justice Worker includes the delivery of individual and group work sessions, to challenge, motivate and engage children and young people to comply with out of court disposals and statutory court orders. Key qualities include being able to ensure case recording is timely and accurate and to work with key partners to improve public protection, safeguard the needs of children and young people and assist in the reduction of youth offending in East Sussex.
You will be a self-motivated, creative thinker, flexible and pragmatic person. You will supervise cases and manage risk in line with national standards and develop high quality intervention plans based on assessments. You’ll need to be hands-on and possess good communication and motivation skills to bring the best outcome for children and young people.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
