The SEND Team requires a SEND Officer to support our increasing workload. The team is responsible for ensuring that the LA’s statutory responsibilities towards individual children and young people with SEND are met. The main duties associated with this post include writing EHC plans using assessment advice, providing information to support the LA’s decision-making panel and liaising with parents, young people and a range of professionals from education, health and social care as well as supporting the annual review process.
The role includes attendance at and chairing of meetings. The successful candidate will also support the top up funding process. We are a busy team and deal with sensitive, and at times, difficult situations. The successful candidate will have good organisational and interpersonal skills, have experience of similar work within a public sector and will need to be able to travel within North Somerset and further afield to support out of area placements.
This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
