The Isle of Wight Council operates a group of residential Learning Disability Homes which provide a safe environment for the residents enabling them to lead fulfilled and enriched lives.

We are looking to appoint positive, committed and forward thinking Support Workers who will be supporting people in promoting their independence; working within Plean Dene, Saxonbury and Westminster House.

You will play a key role in delivering a high quality service, which has a person centred approach and actively supports and maximises residents' independence and life experience. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an appropriate level of literacy and numeracy with a clear commitment to excellence. You will be well supported and receive structured supervision, training and development opportunities. A QCF 2/Care Certificate Qualification in care is desirable. It is an important feature of these roles that residents have access to the range of community activities so a Driving Licence is desirable.

The typical shift times are as follows:

* Early Shift - 07.30-15.00
* Late Shift - 14.30-22.00
* Wakeful Night - 22.00-07.30

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) have now amended the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 so that, from 11 November 2021, all adult care home workers and other visiting professionals will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless they have an exemption or there is an emergency. Therefore, in order for us to meet this requirement, we will be seeking evidence from yourself as employment of an unvaccinated care home worker will breach the statutory restriction under the Health and Social Care Amendment Regulations.

The Isle of Wight Council protects its employees from discrimination, we actively promote the diversity of our workforce and we provide flexible working options (where appropriate) to support the different needs of our employees. The Isle of Wight Council is proud to encourage applications from all cultures, backgrounds and abilities to better reflect the diversity within our local community.

This council and its schools recruit according to the council’s Safer Recruitment policy and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.
