We’re seeking a knowledgeable Member Support Officer to provide efficient and effective servicing and support for Cabinet members and councillors. You will play a crucial role in helping councillors achieve their aspirations as ward councillors, as well as assisting them with managing their casework and member enquiries.
You’ll be working in a fast paced environment, advising councillors about legislation, policies, and procedures, putting them in touch with the right service contacts. Alongside this, you will manage diaries, distribute ward surgery information and provide administrative support as required.
This role will enable you to further enhance your knowledge of council procedure and law as you’ll take the lead in contributing to effective ward management alongside councillors.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate your understanding of local government, council procedures and working in a political environment. You will be extremely customer focussed, taking a collaborative approach to deliver results, as well as using your initiative to analyse data and obtain all relevant information before taking action or making recommendations.
You will have excellent oral and written communication skills as you’ll be regularly liaising with Members and a range of internal stakeholders, alongside the ability to handle sensitive case enquires.
You’ll have an awareness of wider developments affecting the provision of public services; using this to manage and prioritise conflicting business needs as part of a busy team.
